South Alexandria is an ever changing area with a very diverse market.  This area has Million $ and Multi-Million $ single family homes, New Townhomes and Single Family Homes and Condominiums.

The Rt. 1 corridor has seen many positive changes over the past few years and many more are in progress or on the drawing board.  The most recent change is the redevelopment of the South Valley Plaza by Federal Realty Investment Trust.  The center is now know as Mount Vernon Plaza.  Silver Diner and TGI Fridays will soon have new locations on Rt. 1.  You will see many of the older properties replaced with new buildings.  New homes are also being built up and down the corridor.

The Military Base Realignment and Closure Commission indicates that Ft. Belvoir will be the host of 20,000+ new jobs by the year 2011.   This alone will bring much change to the South Alexandria area.  With the addition of this many jobs in the area we should see a great increase in the need for housing which in turn will have a positive effect on the value of properties in this area.
